According to its constitution, Bosnia and Herzegovina is divided into two entities, the Federation of Bosnia and Herzegovina and Republika Srpska, plus the Brčko District; the capital is Sarajevo. In 2025, 403,703 passengers flew from Germany to the country, ranking 44th of 211 destination countries abroad, most often to Sarajevo (German Federal Statistical Office, own analysis). UNESCO lists five World Heritage Sites, including the Old Bridge in Mostar and, since 2024, the Vjetrenica Cave. Payment is in convertible marks, and the time is the same as in Germany. The rules on entry, safety and health are set out by the German Foreign Office.
