In 2025, Norway ranked 19th of 211 destination countries with 1,142,033 passengers from Germany (own analysis of Destatis table 46421-09), and a good half flew to Oslo-Gardermoen. Eight sites are on UNESCO's World Heritage List, including Bryggen in Bergen (1979) and the West Norwegian Fjords with Geirangerfjord and Nærøyfjord (2005). By train, Oslo–Bergen and Oslo–Trondheim both take around seven hours (October 2026 timetable). Payment is in Norwegian kroner, and the time is the same as in Germany. Municipalities may levy an overnight levy from 1 January 2027 at the earliest.
