In 2025, Tunisia ranked 33rd of 211 destination countries abroad with 563,474 passengers from Germany (own analysis of Destatis table 46421-09). More than half landed in Tunis-Carthage, followed by Monastir and Djerba-Zarzis. Ten sites in the country are UNESCO World Heritage Sites, the most recent being the village of Sidi Bou Saïd, added in July 2026. Payment is in Tunisian dinars, which you may neither bring into nor take out of the country. Arabic is spoken, and many people also speak fluent French. The rules on entry, safety and health are set out by the German Foreign Office.
