In 2025, the USA ranked 4th among destination countries abroad from the main German airports: 6,619,336 passengers boarded flights to the USA, and only Spain, Turkey and Italy had more (German Federal Statistical Office, own analysis). Most flew to New York-JFK, then to San Francisco and Newark. Payment is in US dollars. In New York it is usually six hours earlier than in Germany, and only five for a few weeks in March and around the turn of October/November. The rules on entry (ESTA/visa), safety and health are set out by the German Foreign Office.
