In Albania you pay with the lek (ALL), with banknotes from 200 to 10,000 lek. The time is the same as in Germany, and the switch to summer time follows the EU rule. In 2025, a total of 796,570 passengers boarded at the main German airports bound for Albania, all to Tirana, the only Albanian destination airport in the statistics. This put the country 30th of 211 destination countries abroad (German Federal Statistical Office, own analysis). The old towns of Gjirokastër and Berat have been on UNESCO's World Heritage List since 2005 and 2008 respectively. The rules on entry and safety are set out by the German Foreign Office.
