In 2025, a total of 1,058,948 passengers flew from the main German airports to Ireland, 95.4% of them to Dublin, followed by Cork and Kerry (German Federal Statistical Office, own analysis). The Irish statistics office counted around 433,200 overnight visitors from Germany in 2025. Ireland has been in the EU since 1973 and in the euro area since 1999, but is not part of the Schengen Area. In Ireland it is one hour earlier than in Germany all year round. The UNESCO World Heritage List includes Brú na Bóinne with its passage tombs (since 1993) and Sceilg Mhichíl (since 1996). The rules on entry, safety and health are set out by the German Foreign Office.
