Kosovo has no access to the sea; on the Albanian and North Macedonian borders, peaks rise above 2,600 m. In the 2024 census the country counted 1,602,515 inhabitants. Payment is in euros, and the official languages are Albanian and Serbian. The Dečani Monastery has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2004, and three further medieval churches and monasteries were added in 2006. In 2025, 807,822 passengers flew from the main German airports to Pristina, ranking 29th of 211 destination countries (German Federal Statistical Office, own analysis). The regions of Prishtina, Prizren and Peja counted the most hotel guests from abroad in 2025.
