In 2025, Faro ranked 3rd among destinations in Portugal from the main German airports, behind Lisbon and Porto: 635,326 passengers, 40th among all destinations abroad. From the airport, city bus 16 takes 15 to 19 minutes to Faro bus station, and the Aerobus takes just under two hours to Lagos. The A22 motorway has been toll-free since 1 January 2025. In July and August, Faro reaches an average daytime high of a good 29 °C, and 17.1 °C in December. The Ria Formosa lagoon has been a nature park since 1987.
