Sweden has been an EU member since 1 January 1995 and part of the Schengen Area since 25 March 2001, but payment is in Swedish krona (SEK). The time is the same as in Germany. In a 2025 survey by the Riksbank, only 5% said they had paid for their last in-store purchase in cash. In 2025, 1,383,043 passengers flew from the main German airports to Sweden, around two thirds of them to Stockholm-Arlanda, followed by Gothenburg-Landvetter (own analysis). Sweden has 15 UNESCO World Heritage Sites. The rules on entry, safety and health are set out by the German Foreign Office.
