According to the operator, the airport lies 9 km from the city, and bus C-6 runs around the clock into the centre. Above Postiguet Beach, Santa Bárbara Castle stands on the 166 m high Monte Benacantil, and admission is free. The TRAM runs to Benidorm and on to Dénia, and in nearby Elche the palm grove has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 2000.
