In terms of passengers from Germany, South Korea ranked 41st of 211 destination countries abroad in 2025. At the main German airports, 450,651 passengers boarded with South Korea as their last known destination, almost all bound for Seoul-Incheon (German Federal Statistical Office, own analysis). Most started in Frankfurt and Munich. UNESCO lists 17 World Heritage Sites in the country, including the volcanic island of Jeju and the Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon (as of September 2026). Since 1 September 2026, KTX and SRT have run together as KTX. Payment is in won, and the clocks are 8 hours ahead in the German winter.
