Destinations in Thailand: Bangkok

In 2025, Thailand ranked 21st of 211 destination countries with 1,060,164 passengers from Germany (own analysis of Destatis table 46421-09). Almost three quarters landed at Bangkok-Suvarnabhumi, almost a fifth at Phuket; most flights started in Frankfurt and Munich. UNESCO lists nine World Heritage Sites in the country, the ninth being Wat Phra Mahathat Woramahawihan in Nakhon Si Thammarat, added in July 2026. Payment is in baht, and the clocks are six hours ahead, or five during German summer time. What applies to entry, safety and health is set out by the German Foreign Office.
