The coast around Antalya is called the “Turkish Riviera” because of its ancient sites and natural attractions. The city was founded by Attalus II, King of Pergamon, under the name Attaleia. In 2025, AYT airport handled a total of 39.1 million passengers and operates around the clock. In the 2026 season the province has a total of 232 Blue Flag beaches. In the surrounding area lie the ancient cities of Perge, Termessos and Aspendos, whose theatre holds 15,000 spectators.
