Prague is the capital of the Czech Republic and lies on the Vltava; around 1.4 million people live here. The historic centre has been a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1992. Above the Lesser Town stands Prague Castle, according to the Guinness Book of Records the largest ancient castle complex in the world.

Václav Havel Airport lies about 12 km west of the centre, and the train from Dresden takes a good two hours. In 2025, 8.27 million overnight guests came, with Germany the largest source market at 981,800.
